A) About cows:
1.- What are the 5 most common pathologies of cows?
Foot and mouth disease: is a highly contagious viral disease that can be picked up by direct contact with an infected animal or by contact with contaminated things. Symptoms could be fever, blisters in mouth and on feet, drop in milk production, weight loss, lameness, loss of appetite, among others.
Brucellosis: is an infectious disease produced by the Brucella bacterium which contaminate uterine fluids and the membranes. Symptoms are abortion, stillborn weak calf born, retention of fetal membranes, among others.
Bovine tuberculosis: it is caused by the Mycobacterium bovis bacterium. Poorly nourished or under stress animals are more likely to be infected, as well as growing heifers. The symptoms usually are related to the respiratory tract, like chronic cough.
Dehydration and heat stress: these are common problems during summer because of the hot temperature. Signs are sunken eyes, fever, dark yellow urine and "skin tent" after pinching skin.
Bovine anemia/Theileria: it is caused by protozoan parasites named theileria which are carried by ticks. The parasite gets into cow's bloodstream and enters red blood cells destroying them and causing anemia. Symptoms include lethargy, lack of appetite and exercise intolerance.

Besides it has news, blogs, a magazine, a web search engine for horses on sale, a directory, and many other things! As the slogan says, it is "for poeple with a passion for horses".
